Exchanging Life @ NUS Ep.2

"Not assigned to any faculty but take 2 modules of Psychology as I did my major back in my hometown."
13 to 19 January is my second week in Singapore for the student exchange program, but it's merely the first week of the semester. Let's find out what did I do last week. I'll gonna show you my journal in four aspects: Coursework, School Event, Activity and Spending my Leisure Time.
COURSEWORK
I've registered 5 modules which are 4 credits each. Module instructions said that one module takes 10 hours effort to attend lectures and tutorials, do the project and prepare for class material. I won't let studying occupy my exchange life, so probably I'll transfer one of them to AUDIT(no need to take exams and hand in assignments anymore).
Once I audit the module, I'll have BT2101, GES1002, PL3237 and ST1232 left(probably write module review after I finish this semester, so stay tuned). Then I need to only go for the lectures on Monday and Wednesday. Though I just listened to the courses for one time, I found that all courses are interesting. Furthermore, the professor teaching BT2101 received his Ph.D. at Temple University and the professor teaching PL3237 is a great-great-great-grandson student of B. F. Skinner. It really makes me wanna take these courses and deeply bounce the idea in their research field off of them.
SCHOOL EVENT
NUS asked all students to select tutorials and labs for the module last week. We had to arrange all the priorities of each tutorial together and let the system come out with the result. There're two rounds and fortunately, I got my academic schedule settled down after 2 rounds of selection.
The Office of Student's Affair asked all the students who reside on campus in the current academic year(2019/20) to complete a compulsory face-to-face workshop organized by the office of residence. Anyone who stays in the school residence failed to complete it will be kicked out from the dorm. It took approximately 2 hours to talk about respect and consent in some regular scenarios on campus. I thought it was really important because Singapore and NUS itself is an international community. Not only students and stuff but also people from all around the world come to study, teach and live here, so we should always consider others.
ACTIVITY
Adventure
Never have thought I'd do it so early but I went BUNGEE JUMPING last week 😺!!!!! Before I sharing how exciting it is, I'd like to mention the very beginning of the journey.
NUS officially built a club on Facebook for upcoming exchangers. Someone just initiated a 15+ people group for bungee jumping discount two days before the activity. I joined another group chat for forming teams applying ClimbNUS activity by chance. The "Someone", Fina, was just in the climbing group as well. So I asked her to add me in. Then here came the crazy stuff.
It took each of us 139SGD for the full package of the jump and 50SGD the media pack which included 2 videos and several pictures shot by the GoPro attached to you while you were free-falling. Because of we going in a group of 15, it really took us a long time waiting. But I'll say like you only need 10 minutes to go up to the tower, get suited and enjoy 2.5 minutes of free-falling and pulling back by the rope. It's absolutely on the "do it once in your life" bucket list!
Quality Time
A friend from Taiwan came sightseeing and we had a reunion at the bar called Hopscotch. It was the first bar I went in Singapore, happy hour from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., nice cocktails, but we kept waiting at least an hour to get our drink. Not recommended going on weekends cause it literally lots of people attracted by its happy hour price.
Almost all the Taiwanese in NUS had a dinner date together last Saturday for kickstarting this semester. After that, we went to a bar called Stickies Bar @ Sunset Lane for an after party and played some drinking games.
Spending my LEISURE TIME
Students studying bachelor and master's degree in NUS have a whole week for recess right before midterm-week. And me too. So my friend and I spent a night figure out the entire travel plan. Then we tried to convince others to join us.
I also worked out at the gym which is an attached institution of the residence that I'm staying. I found that the equipment there is a little bit unsafe but complete. And kind of crap but most importantly, it's ACed.
"Looking forward to the third week, more coursework, more events, more activity, and more alcohol XD."
